Keyboard Tester

About Us

Keyboard Tester is a free online keyboard test that helps you check whether every key on a keyboard works. Press a key on your physical keyboard and the matching key lights up on screen, so you can confirm each switch registers correctly — no sign-up, no download and nothing to install.

We built this tool because verifying a new keyboard should be quick and obvious. Whether you have just unboxed a mechanical board, replaced a laptop keyboard or want to diagnose an older one that is acting up, a visual keyboard test takes less than a minute and can save you from a return window closing on a dead key.

What you can test

  • Windows and Mac keyboards, with the correct modifier keys for each.
  • Full-size (104-key), TKL (tenkeyless) and laptop / 60% layouts.
  • Desktop keyboards, laptop keyboards and Chromebooks — anything with a browser.
  • Individual keys, the number pad, the function row and simultaneous key presses (rollover).

Built to be simple and private

Everything runs in your browser. Your key presses are processed on your own device and are never sent to a server. The tool works in eight languages and adapts to your screen size, so it is just as usable on a phone as on a desktop.
